roimata, I'd love to hear more about your savory French toast- is it just like the tradiitonal version but without sugar?  I hate too much sweet at breakfast, but my DH loves French Toast with sugar in it, powdered sugar on top, and syrup.  bleah.

We do eggy bread/french toast - but no sugar, just mix some eggs and milk (whatever version you use) and soak your bread in it.  Then fry it in some coconut oil and add some fruit on top.  Banana, peach and rasberries are the favourite here  :).  I cut up the bread into smallish pieces so that each piece soaks up more egg iyswim, and it definitely fills the children (and me  :)) up for much longer than cereal/toast.

I do eggy bread.  I don't add any milk, just beat an egg and put a slice of bread in it.  I also cut the bread, into quarters, as I do find I can get the whole egg soaked up into one slice of bread that way.  I don't add anything at all, no sugar, fruit etc.  DS does like to dip his in ketchup though.  I like a bit of sweet thai chilli sauce on mine.

Yep, my french toast is basically like that, a beaten egg with a pinch of salt and soak the bread. Sometimes I put in a bit of nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavour. Then I serve it plain, but I guess you could have other toppings. I don't do dairy now, but before I would sometimes put cheese slices on top and grill it. Yum!

For a really yummy eggy bread/french toast.....try a dash of vanilla extract and a sprinkle of cinnamon in the egg mixture. SO good!  That's the only way my Mom ever made it, and I do it that way too.   :)  I go heavy on the cinnamon!

I haven't read anyone else's response, but I know that quinoa is an excellent source of protein and a great way to fill hungry bellies!
