DS has always been the best sleeper. Loves his cot, pretty much always slept through the night etc......

THis last week he has been resisting bedtime. Saying he doesn't want to go to sleep, wants to go in our bed. We had a proper full on tantrum the other night and he climbed out of his cot in a rage to run back to us (which totally freaked me out!)

He won't/can't give us a reason for why. It could be the onset of a cold and he does seem particularly tired at BT at the moment but he isn't going to bed any later than he normally would and there have been no routine changes. The only thing that has happened recently is that DH had to go away on business for 2 nights and this may have unsettled him.

He is also waking up about 4am asking for me to stroke his back which I do for a minute then tell him i'm going back to my bed and I'll see him when the sun comes up on his clock. He goes back to sleep and only calls us when the sun is there. He hasn't attempted to climb out of his cot since the tantrum episode a few nights ago.

We had been considering introducing a BBB over the Christmas period - my question is whether to wait until these BT dramas are over or whether a BBB might help the situation?

does he still have a nap?  do you think he could be UT at BT?  that could also cause the NWs.

could also be the cold - they always affect L's sleep at the beginning.

development leaps also affect L's sleep (harder to settle, sometimes NWs) - do you think this could be a cause?

Personally, I'm not sure that a BBB would necessarily help...  :-\

He hasn't had naps since April other than the odd car nap. Could be a devel leap I guess - is there one at 3?

Better BT tonight but still needed persuading at a back rub. Earlier BT though so we will see!

There tend to be development leaps around every birthday and half birthday so that could well be it. Has he just had his birthday? They always affect L's sleep and bedtimes and often cause NWs in the MOTN for us too so that could well be it.

If he's dropped his nap now then I doubt he is UT.

Hope you get a good night tonight!

His birthday is Friday. So far so good tonight. If all goes well for a few nights Father Christmas may bring a bbb if I am brave enough!
