Anything developmental? Teething? been poorly? He does sound OT tho so I would do what u can to get him to cu and keep those a times short. Once he's more settled you can work on a times again :/

I'm not sure about feeds tbh my lo has always been a poor feeder so we never had a strict easy for bottles. U could ask specific questions on easy or bottle feeding? xx

No I don't think he's teething or sick. He's learning sorts of new things at the minute so probably developmental. He's never been a good napper though.

His morning a time seems to get shorter every day so I think he's definitely ot but he has slept longer in a night for the last couple of days too. He had about 14hrs on Sunday night and 13 last night. I thought he was catching up but maybe he has slept too long?

Right, still no better here and in fact naps are getting shorter and bedtime later.

For some reason he's taken to waking up at 6am without fail. He'll only
Go back to sleep if he gets in bed with me where he'll fall asleep within two minutes and sleep until 830/9am.

His bedtime the past few nights has been 930pm!

The 6am wakeup must be habitual bit wake to sleep doesn't work, he just wakes! Do you think he wants to be up at 6am and is just sleeping because he's with me? Would waking him up at 8am for a few days get him back on track with his bedtime? He used to sleep between 730 and 8 without fail and get up at 8am bit the 6am wake up has brought and end to that.

With him sleeping at 930pm I don't want to get him up too early because he's overtired enough as it is. And his naps are now 30 minutes rather than 40!

Could u post your current easy? How old is lo now?

From your post sounds like he's OT. If he's waking at 6 that may be his body clock (most Los prefer 6/7 wu) but  you need to keep to a 12 hr day or OT will occur.

I am no expert, in fact I am a FTM and struggling with the naps of a 4.5 month old. However I wanted to pass some information that I got by taking to a sleep consultant how does research in sleep.  My baby was having the same sort of issues you are describing.  All of a sudden he started with 45 min naps at around 3 months. I tried extending and shortening the a time, to no avail.  I tried all sorts of things. The only thing that worked for me was to soothe him back to sleep once he is done with that first cycle.  I pick him up from the crib and shush him, bounce him, pace him and give it a good try (of 15-20 min) to help him fall back asleep.  Tracy would probably disagree with this tecnique, but the shush-pat method has never helped me bridge the two cycles. Most of the time it works and he is able to fall back to sleep for another 40-45 minutes, sometimes I can't get him to fall asleep.  When I told this to the sleep consultant she said it was very normal for babies to not sleep more than 45 minutes before they are 5 months old, when they start learning how to bridge the two cycles.  So even if he wakes up and seems rested after 45 minutes, I can tell he needed more sleep if he can fall asleep in the next 15min.
I have noticed too that keeping him in a dark room helps because that way he is not as distracted when he comes out of the first cycle and call fall asleep back again.  I transfer him back to the crib when I am absolutely sure is is deeply asleep, otherwise the little rest he had is enough for him to fight that second cycle.
If you want more information you can look at the webinars for free at http://www.isisparenting.com/page/webinarssleep
it is the last one titled: The Science of Infant & Toddler Sleep presented by Isis Parenting Sleep Team Leader & Senior Sleep Consultant and Harvard Medical School Sleep Researcher Dr. Erin Flynn-Evans, PhD ALM RPSGT

A few times has my baby been sleeping more than the 45 minutes, so I am still waiting for him to hit the 5 month mark and possibly beyond when he can do it by himself.
Good luck and I hope you figure things out

Hello. Thanks for the info. I haven't posted my easy routine because I'm giving up with nap extensions for the reason dvalpin mentioned. He's never slept well at all during the day and a friend mentioned their daughter was the same. Suddenly at 6 months she napped for an hour every time. He's 5 months today so I'm watching and waiting in hope! To be honest he's far less grumpy then he has been with his short naps and seems quite content at the minute so at least his short naps aren't troubling him!

I've also been reading up on wonder weeks and I'm amazed to find he is following the pattern to the day. So in putting his night time sleep regression down to that. The naps are just him and we're learning to live with it!

Thanks for the link, ill take a look. And fingers crossed our little ones both learn to bridge that gap!
