10 wk old - Habitual waking?

Wow, what a night we had! DD was asleep by 815pm and I also went to sleep by 930pm. Next thing I know, it's 230am, DD is letting out small cries in her sleep and my left breast is killing me! I grab her before she fully wakes up for a feed. She eats in under 15 min all in her sleep and i even changed her diaper and she woke up briefly and went right back to sleep. So did I. Next thing i know, it's close to 7 am, now my right breast is about to explode and she's still sleeping! DD woke up eventually @715am.

Now - we didnt do a DF. What is interesting is that as I mentioned in previous comments, when I did give DD a DF she would only take less than 4 oz and then her wake up would be also around 230am.

Also, should I have left her alone @ 230am and waited for her to actually fully wake up before feeding? And the fact that she ate for less than 15 min - is that snacking? My breast did feel much much lighter afterward but i still had milk there.

That sounds like a perfect night to me!  These LOs can eat quickly, especially when supply is high so the fact she ate in less than 15 mins doesn't indicate snacking.  We never did a DF at all here, and some mums do find it disturbs LOs sleep more than it helps.  I'd try leaving it out again tonight and see how it goes

Thanks for the reassurance about the DF. I felt like i had to do it. It worked great for DS and after reading BW book, i thought was the way to go. Really hoping for a repeat night tonight!!!!

It's totally ok if you felt like you were about to burst.  You can wait next time to see how long she goes -- she may actually go back to sleep!  But you wouldn't have created any bad habits by feeding her.

Here's a question related to last night. DD's last feed started @7pm and I topped her off again after her bath around 8pm and she was asleep by 815pm. She started fussing around 230am and I let her be. Then @ 3am she was still fussy but still asleep. I decided that it has been 8 hrs since her last feed (7pm-3am) and that she is fussing because she is hungry. So I decided to feed her but she literally spent 5 min at my breast and was in deep sleep. I held her and stroke her cheek for a while longer but she was deep asleep. Then around 5am she started fussing again and @ 515am i decided that since she didnt eat much last feed, she may be genuinely hungry, but she only ate for less than 10 min and was in deep sleep. She was fussing in her sleep on and off but did not wake up until 815 am, when she woke up quite happy and smiling. Now, should i really let her wake up? Was I setting up for a snacking habit last night?

I would let her wake up -- you never know what she'll do unless you let her!  But no, you're not turning her into a snacker by feeding her last night, I promise.
