And I'm back! LO is now 17 w and the short naps have NOT gone away. I'm convinced they're developmental at this point.
Last week I decided to try the patting from 35 min to 55 min for every nap, that's 21 times last week. It worked twice! Ugh! The week had passed and I thought I'd let LO try on his own again this week (even though I really had no success last week) and he's had now two days of 45 minute naps (to the second, it's kind of freaky!). But my happy baby is gone, he's pretty blah now after his 45 minute naps and I hate not seeing all those smiles that I'm used to. He wakes up crying pretty hard so I know that he needs more sleep. And the 45 min naps really throw off our EASY.
Last week when the patting didn't work (all 19 times...) I would pick him up, soothe him, and put him down in his pram and push that back and forth till he fell back asleep and then have to sit with him and rock the pram gently for the next 45 minutes to help him get the rest of his nap in. When I did this, LO would always wake cheerful and we would have a good day. But I am a slave to his naps and DH has been calling me the nap nazi!
What do I do? Continue being a slave to his naps so that at least LO is happy and well rested? Or pick him up at the 45 min mark and continue cutting my A times all day afterwards to deal with his OT? I suppose I am willing to push him back and forth in a pram 3 x a day so that he will be a happy well rested baby. I just wish and hope that there is some other way to get through this! I forgot to mention that LO is IS 99% of the time (proof that BW works!!! it took a bit of time but he falls asleep on his own now, woohoo!).
Any help is truly appreciated! TIA
