2 month old - still falls asleep while feeding
« on: January 31, 2013, 08:24:38 am »
Hi,
My 2 month old DD is BF every 3 hrs - but as we were having sleep problems I thought that maybe it's because she falls asleep on the breast every time she eats and maybe she thinks this is the way to sleep??
I always burped her after which would wake her up - and changed her diaper - and then we went straight on to A time. She used to fall asleep on her own in her crib but lately we had problems settling her for sleep (esp. naps).
So now I'm trying to keep her awake while she eats which is very difficult - I tickle her back stroke her hair sing talk and do anything to separate feeding and sleeping.
Is this normal? Am I doing the right thing? Should I just let her sleep and wake her up as soon as she's done?  ???

At 2m I'd say this is still really normal.  They get really relaxed when they feed and are nice and warm and comfortable cuddled up with you, so just doze off.  I always just let mine sleep.  Enjoy the snuggles while you can
