10 month old bad naps
« on: February 04, 2013, 21:44:16 pm »
Hi there, my 10 month old just got through some major NW and is now taking bad naps.  Today and yesterday, for instance, one nap was 30 minutes and the other was 45.  I know this is supposed to mean OT and UT, respectively, but can anyone give advice about how I should adjust A times to prevent further ridiculousness?  His A times are at 3 hours and if he takes a 1.5 hour nap I would make the middle one 3.5 hrs.  As it is now though, his first two A times are 3 hours and then there's a HUGE amount of time left till his normal bedtime.  Here's an example using today:

7 wake, nurse, solids later
945 nap (fell asleep a little early)
1025 woke crying, nurse, solids around lunch time
155 nap (took 10 minutes to fall asleep)
220 woke crying
NOW WHAT????
7-730 bed time

Any help appreciated!  Thanks in advance :)

So, is he sleeping longer nights now that he isn't NWing?  He probably needs a bit of an A time push, then.  Most 10mo olds are around 3.5hrA.

As it is, on the day you posted, I would've shortened the middle A a little more so that he was taking his second nap more around 1-1:15pm.  Hopefully, that one would've been longer and made up for the short first nap.  If you do get two short naps,, it's typically best to go for an early bed time.  In that case, I would've done 6pm.  Most babies will then make up for the lost day sleep in their night or at least do 12hr to get to a decent morning wake-up.

How did things go today?
