11.5 month old..Advice Please!
« on: February 06, 2013, 12:30:21 pm »
Hey!
I have a VERY sensitive little boy that is 11.5 months old. I also have a spirted little girl who is 16 months older. I thought I knew everything about babies and sleep after her sleep troubles but apparently not. Neither babies are sleepers and that's something I have just accepted. I attribute it to them both being over 100% on the growth charts in all categories but who knows if that affects sleep at all.
From the first day in the hospital with my little boy, I have used the EASY routine (not strictly of course, but just to establish the rhythm). I have used most all of the baby whisperer methods through out teaching both kids to sleep. Those methods have been the best tool for both of them.
My boy has been mostly a good sleeper due to a lot of work but now we've somehow fallen off the boat. He still naps great but at night he wakes up 8-20+ times. All I have to do is walk in there, put the blanket back on him, and walk out. It started because he was cold, now I don't think that's the case. He LOVES his Momma and I think he just wants to know I'm there. If I let him cry for more than a few seconds, he screams the most heart breaking cry possible. If I let him cry though that cry, (only have done it once or twice) he's upset with me the the whole next day..to the point where I can't get basic chores done. I don't know how to put an end to this. He constantly has a runny nose or worse. I'm generally at the end of my wits which is a problem when you have a 2 year old in the house. Please give me all the advice you can!
Thanks!!

Fun fact: I haven't slept a full 8 hours in 27.5 months! :)

Hi there and welcome to the boards. :). (((Hugs))) on your lack of sleep!

Is he an independent sleeper at nap and bedtime?  Can you post his daily routine, specifically when he naps and for how long?  There can be lots of issues at his age, just down to the routine needing to be tweaked.  You don't need to necessarily let him cry at night, but you do need to make sure he is actually needing you when he cries out.  Does it escalate every time or does he sometimes go back to sleep on his own?
