If my baby wakes up at 40 - 45 min mark always happy and smiling could this just be his rhythm? He is not sleeping at all well at night. Its becoming aweful any tips welcome?

Sounds UT hun. He's 5 months now? Are you still doing 2hr A time? He could need a bit more   Is my baby ready to increase his ‘A’ time? (incl. 'A' times for younger babies)

Can you post your EAS for us now? What time of night are the night wakings? If you started him on solids, have you noticed any reaction or discomfort from that?

Hugs xx

The rice cereal has gone really well. So far no constipation and I also introduced a formula a feed a couple of times a day. My milk is dwindling and I think its bc I m not rested at all. I cant cope anymore so I have decided to start to slowly slowly ween him from the breastmilk. I have been pleasantly suprised in that he did not refuse the formula or the rice cereal. But he only has a couple of spoonfuls of the cereal its too hard for him otherwise. We are still napping horribly and having wake ups every two hours at night. I am at a total loss!!!! Today he was in a vicious OT cycle missed all three of his naps. How can should I deal with this???

Can you APOP the naps? For the next couple of days, I would just try to get him to sleep whatever way you can - rocking, stroller, etc.

Such frequent NWs sound like discomfort :-\ Does he have any history of reflux? Is he teething?

^^ agree with the discomfort possibility... what time of day are you giving the cereal?  It can cause all sorts of digestive discomfort as they learn to process something other than BM or formula.  Might be best to switch to oatmeal cereal (little more gentle) and offer only once about an hour after the first milk feed.. no more than a tablespoon a day.

The rice cereal was not that bad at all. Of course he doesn't really eat any of it. We also added a bottle of formula per day and it seems to be helping him out. His poop really stinks but that's about it. Our three hours stretches of sleep became 5 hour just last night. I am holding thumbs for tonight :)

Good news!  What time of day do you offer the rice cereal?

It has been going great with all his solids. He has been fine. Today he is a little constipated I am going to add some chamomile tea to his formula it works wonders for an upset stomach. Sorry for the late response I have been going crazy with his naps. he has still not been able to nap for longer than 30-45 mins it's driving me nuts!

Can you change to oatmeal or barley based baby cereal?  The rice cereal is for sure the most constipating...

Hi so sorry for late response.
I changed cereal and it is corn based, he loves it. No issues with discomfort. He is still napping 45 mins. Just the day  before yesterday and today he napped for 1.5 hours it was a miracle. I am hoping that it becomes the norm. :) He is almost 7 months, eating veggies, fruit, rice cereal, breastfeeding and taking about 8 oz a day of formula. He is a happy little man but the nightwakings are still exhausting and he has early wakings too. A typical day starts at 5:45 and ends at about 6:45pm with three 45 minute naps. I tried the DF but it didn't work. Any suggestions?

What's his A time now? He should have grown out of the developmental 45 min naps by now, so maybe he's stuck in an UT/OT loop.

HI exactly my problem. I can't get out of the UT OT loop its so tiring for him. I try everyday but somehow someway we get stuck in the OT cycle and then UT b/c he wakes up too early and then naps too late. Its aweful. And by the time it hits 5pm he is a mess he is so tired. He is not sleeping through out of OT not anything else. With my daughter within weeks of BW advice she was sleeping through at 5.5 months. My son is suffering b/c I can't stick to a plan. Its so much harder with two. I also need to eliminate some of the nightfeeds, b/c it is messing up his daytime feeding. Please please help me. His A time in the morning is around 3 hours and then the rest of the day it is less and less b/c he is so OT.

Hi hun, sorry I haven't been back here but I see you've got new threads going in EASY and GS that you're getting great advice on, so I'm going to lock this one to keep all the advice together :)
