Hugs we're having the same problem with school runs but for a 6 mo. Its the tricky phase where she no longer needs a CN but its hard to fit in two decent naps with enough A time. FWIW this is what we're doing and like you ladies say we're going for the longer am nap. I was told that a longer am nap helps them handle the day better and I have to say I agree as I've tried it both ways
7am Wake up but even if she wakes around 6 I keep nap time similar around 9am.
9:30 Nap
11:00 I wake
1:30 nap
2:30 I wake
6:30pm BT
Although this is only 2.5 hours day time sleep the earlier BT helps compensate, then in the weekends we can play catch up a bit. We've only just started this but she is handling the 4 hours A time fine before bed, she was resisting the CN anyway so we didn't have much choice! I know its even harder for you as you're trying to build in 3hrs+ of A time (like Kara says 3-4 hours is average for 8-10 mo). I think as well although we like to have a consistent routine sometimes during transition phases it can be mixed up a bit so maybe depending on what nap/s you get will depend on whether you do a CN or not.
FWIW with the NFing have you considered trying to wean? I weaned DD1 off NWings at 9mo and I'm just starting now with DD2 as shes still waking twice (at 6mo) and I'm exhausted! At the moment I'm working on getting it down to 1 NFing of no earlier than 2/3am. The first night she woke at 10pm & took 20 mins to settle (I then fed at 2am). Last night she woke at midnight & it only took a few mins to settle then I fed her when she woke around 2am. Once she starts to not wake before the 2/3am feed I'm going to then work on getting rid of that one.
Just thought I would share as sometimes weaning NFing can be worse than what we actually think & when we're so tired it just seems easier to keep feeding them. Although I've had to do a little bit of settling in the space of a few nights she has shown me she can go from every 4-5 hours which we've been doing forever at night to 7.5hrs so I know she can do it. So we're here to hold your hand when/if you decide you're ready to try
With DD1 I weaned NFIng at 9mo and never fed her in the night again I was so worried about doing it but within a week we were sorted and never looked back.
