How to adjust EASY when dropping CN
« on: March 21, 2013, 23:53:10 pm »
My son is 6 months and has started to refuse to go down for his CN. Our EASY used to look like this:

6:30/6:45am - wake up and feed at 7am
8am - solids
9am-10:30/11am - sleep
11am - eat
12pm - solids
1:00/1:30-2:30/3:00 - sleep
3:00 eat
4:00 solids
5-5:30 - cat nap
7pm - eat and bed

Now that he is refusing that cat nap, I know that I need to work on bumping up his A time. However, I'm not sure what to do about his feedings then. Can they go more than 4 hrs in between feeds? He is breastfed, and doesn't feed long at all (5 mins) so I am concerned about how delaying his nap time will affect his feeding. He often has a 2 hour nap in the morning, so if I'm trying to get him towards a 3 hour A time, this means he won't go down until 10am, but he's used to being fed at 11am...

Yeah, as his A times increase, you'll be on more of a 4hr+ EASY. My LO was BF as well, and she never had trouble going through until the end of her nap for her next feed at this age, especially with starting solids in there as well. She was an efficient feeder too, 5-10 mins max. So I would just go for it and see how he goes - IF he does start waking early from naps and you think hunger could be an issue, then you can look at doing a top-up feed maybe an hour before naptime.
