am I doing it all wrong?????please help!
« on: April 01, 2013, 01:20:38 am »
hi lovely ladies. Not too sure if this is the right place for me to post this but here it is.
My beautiful little 7 months old was sleeping from 7 to 7am.Fot the past week he started waking up at 5.I would normally leave him to self settle but he starts getting grumpy I pick him up because he wakes my 3yo
up.For the past 2 morning at 5 when he wakes I have been giving him a bottle and he drinks it in a heartbit, then I put him to bed again and he wakes at 8.
I tried wake to sleep but it did not work.He has a dream feed at 11pm and is on 3 solids per day plus milk.
What do I do to break the habit of 5 am,also we are about to put our clock back an hour so that will mean he is waking at 4am.

Help please!!!

before his EW's he was doing :
7 wu 240ml of milk
8 breakfast
10 sleep
11:30 wake up 180ml of milk
12:30 solids (as much as he wants)
1:30 sleep till about 3
3 milk about 180ml
5:30 dinner
7pm milk and then bed
11 240ml of milk
I give him as much milk and solids he will take,I did think he was too hungry hence the wake ups but what do you think?:D

Honestly, he seems to be taking plenty of milk (has his milk intake dropped much since starting solids?). I presume you're keeping the DF of 240ml a while longer?

You may want to look at increasing his A time, especially first thing in the morning. How long has he been on 3hr? Am I reading right that he's only up for 2hr before his afternoon nap? Often an EW is related to too much day sleep too early in the day.

When you did W2S, what did you do, how long for? When he wakes, what is his demeanour?

his activity time is the longest I can get him as he becomes very unhappy and starts screaming and then he gets OT and only sleeps for one cycle. He has dropped his milk intake since starting solids and I will keep the dreamfeed for a while longer.
I did wake to sleep by entering in his room and gently moved him around ,did I do it wrong? what would you do please?

Yeah, its just enough to rouse him slightly (certainly not wake him fully) and its got to be every night for a week, TBH I've just stroked DS' cheek til he turned his head away and hot-footed it out of his room again.

How much has he dropped his milk intake? Milk is higher in calories than solids you'd offer at this age, so its important that milk stays pretty much the same - maybe a little less but not too much.

I'm no expert on bottles but I wouldn't imagine that would make much of a difference. You could always try reducing solids a touch or putting some milk into the solids to push a few more calories in during the day and see if that helps.
