Could A time be determined by weight not just age?
« on: April 09, 2013, 06:20:05 am »
Just wonder this as my DS2 is 6 months old tomorrow and on 3 hour A time. Daytime naps are still off but do much better since I went with the 3 hours and dropped the CN. But he still wakes after an hour ??? It can take 20/30 mins for him to go back to sleep, where he might then sleep another 30/45/hour. BT is fine but he wakes anywhere from 3-4am onwards and has very broken sleep until we get up about 6.30/7. He doesn't cry just talks to himself. We had a few really bad nights but then his first tooth popped up and things were back to waking at these silly times.

Do you think I need to increase his A time again? I wonder if he can handle it. Honestly he looks about 8 months! Lol.

Thanks ❤

I don't think weight has anything to do with it - just some bubs are higher A needs than others.  DD was at 3h+ easily by 6 months but she was fairly petite ;).

Did you want to post your routine to see if there's any tweaking we can help with?

CN 5pm - 5.25pm (am working this out and it has been going ok but on days like today I know he needs it)
E 7
Bed 7.30 would have preferred this to be earlier but because of CN it couldn't be done

WU 5/5.30 then again 6/6.30
E 7 and solids an hour later
A
S 9.15 - 10.15am
E 11am and solids an hour later
A
S 1pm - 2.15pm
E 3pm and solids an hour later

Yes I think it looks like he needs more A, for both first and second A times.  I'd try 3h for both, and try to keep it consistent for a few days.  If you can do 3h you can drop the CN and do EBT instead if naps are a bit shorter than ideal.
