Suggestions and help with my easy please!!!
« on: May 29, 2013, 20:03:36 pm »
Hello all I need some help with my easy for my 12 week (11 week adjusted) dd. background:  we have had some issues with reflux as she is now on Zantac generic, but her problem was she was choking all the time and has hiccups at least 2-3 times a day.  But the reason the dr prescribed the med was due to her choking.  She doesn't ever spit up, she doesn't cry on the bottle, and doesn't really have any other reflux issues that I can think of.  She is ff.  we have just recently went to a 3.5-4 hr schedule because she was squirmimg on the bottle so much.  I tried switching formula thinking maybe there was gas or intolerance but after changing it really didn't help,  I am still kind of playing around with it but I really don't think it is the problem, I think it's more that she needs to be moved to a 4 hr schedule and is nosey :). I'm kind of afraid to move completely to a 4 hr schedule, afraid shell wake more at night.  She currently wakes once but the last couple of days she's woke an hour earlier each night for the past three night.  She use to wake around 3.  She has had about a week of sleeping until 5-530 but then it fell back to 3 and last night it was 2.  Anyway I'm having trouble with the end of the day.  I like to cluster feed as I don't do a df. This is what our easy looks like for the most part.

Nw 3 fed 4 oz
Wake and eat 830
A 830- 945
S 10-1150 about 15 min wd

E 12-1220
A 12-115 ish
S 145-310

E 330- 350
A 310-430
S 445-6/615

E630-650
A.  This is where I'm having trouble it usually takes about 1 at the least for her to get tired by then it is 730. I like to start bt routine around 8 and have her in bed by 9 with another feed.  But she's getting ot and if I start earlier then she won't take the last feed.  And if I start earlier she won't get 12 hrs at night if that matters.  Since switching to the 3.5/4 hr it's messed it up some.  I really don't want to start a df as it didn't help before.  Do you think if I do just a little top off at about 745 and have her in bed by 8 that would work that would then mean we wake earlier right?  What suggestions do you ladies have?  I could do 730-730.

This easy is not by no means an easy that happens every day it's more what I strive for.  Like today her naps have not been this good and I'm trying more of a 4 hr as she hasn't been finishing her bottles.  This is today.

Nw. 2
Ew 6 but put in bed with me to snuggle :) this  doesn't happen every day only twice promise not gonna make it a happen :)
Wu and eat 8
A 8-920
S wd 920-940 eyes closed 940-1040
A 1040-12
E 12
A 12-1245
S wd 1245-105 eyes closed 105-155 resettled with paci three times and its 257 and still sleeping.  I'm planning to let her sleep until 330 and wake her to eat, or should I wait til 4, to make it 4 hrs again?  Then if she eats at 330 the plan is again at 630 and 830 but then we get into ot again.  My son has ball practice at 515 so that nap is already going to be off as she doesn't sleep well out and about.  I could do 4 then again at 730-745?????  Do you think putting her down for bt around 730 will help sleep better at night?

Sorry this is long and I'm sure I won't get answers before these times hit due to time differences so ill post back tomorrow to let you know what happened but your replies will help for tomorrow. :) thanks!!!
Tina

You could wake at 3:30 and if she isn't cranky see if she can wait until 4?

For the very end of your day, what has been working for us is get DD ready for bed, offer a top up if she wants.  If she doesn't take the top up, or if her feed happens to coincide with having to go down for nap and she still needs another feed, then she will wake on her own within 30-45min so we feed her then and keep her in her room for her last A time.  This is what our night looked like yesterday:

S 4:15-5 (45min)
E 6:20
S 6:40-7:20 (40 min)
E 7:30
Put down in bed right away after feed, she was wide awake and put herself to sleep after whatever A she wanted.  She didn't even make a peep, I will go in if she needs me, but she always stays in her room to keep her from getting ot/os.  Lastnight she probably fell asleep by 8:20, so her last A was only 1hr, but because she stayed in her room with the lights out she didn't get ot.

Does that make sense?  Will something like that work for A?

Yeah we could try that.   So  she doesn't have another feed after 730?  Could too many feeds cause more night wakes?

We do something like this and I know it sounds strange but it has been working for us.  I fed her at 3:30 and she had regular A time.  Around 4:45 I got the sleep cues so I took her up stairs put her pjs on and got everything ready for bed and put her to sleep.  I won't wake her unless she wakes up.  At whatever time she wakes up (last night it was 7:50) I feed in a darken room and do everything just like I would for a NW feed and then put her straight back down.  Last night she made it till 3:30 before she got fussy but I'm noticing that at 3:30 she's not hungry really she's just looking for her pacifier and from about that time on we play replug the pacifier every 30-40 minutes till just about time dd1 wakes up and then dd2 goes back to sleep lol.  I get a lot of slack for the 4:45 bedtime b/c it hinders what we do in the afternoons but the way I figure it is it wont last forever and when she can handle more A time things will change.

Yes, lastnight her last feed was at 7:30.  She woke at 4:20 this morning for her next feed :)  Sometimes our day gets pushed later so she has her last feed around 8 or 8:30, but it always gets back to 7:30ish for some reason.  I guess that's just the time she likes it?

If she doesn't need the cluster feed, I imagine it could cause some trouble with nws since it could be putting too much food into her belly and making her uncomfortable  ???

Ok so bed by 810.  She woke at 1 and I went in and rocked her and gave her her paci and she fell off quickly and spit out paci so she went down easy and slept until 4 which I then gave her four oz but after about 2  she was dozing good but I managed to get it all down.  She then woke at 730 for the day only trouble I'm noticing is she doesn't feed well first thing in the am.  I fed her at 745 but she was really squirmy after about 2 or 3 oz so I was able to get about 4 oz and she seemed fine.  Should I offer less at the nw? Maybe only offer 3 oz and gradually decrease it.  I went 4 hrs for the next feed and actually had to wake her at 1145 to eat and she ate the full 5.5 oz the last little bit maybe 1/4 oz was squirmy.  I guess if she was really hungry at the 1 am nw she wouldn't have went back to sleep so easily right?  I didn't try to rock or the paci at 4 should I maybe try that then?  I just assumed she was hungry so I just fed should I try rocking and paci before feeding at 4?

At her age you should still expect NF. You are very lucky to just feed once at night (we had 3 NF at this age!) and they still need their calories at night time, yk?
It sounds to me like you had a very good night and the length of it was good as well.

Some babies don't like to be fed first thing in the morning, especially when their last NF was not that long ago. You could wait with it when she wakes up, even give it after 45min A time and then adjust the rest of the feeds. Your EASY will look more like this: AEAS.
