Our 7 m/o will not open her mouth for a spoon but wife is able to fill a syringe with puree and squirt into her mouth and she will eat it.  Should we keep feeding her like this until she accepts a spoon?  We give LO a spoon to play with so that she gets used to it.  Are we doing the right thing?

I would go fr finger food instead, skip purees, let baby set her own pace.

Squirting something into her mouth could potentially be dangerous and a choking hazard.  I agree with Anna x

Ok that sounds like it is worth a try.  What finger foods can a 7 m/o eat?

She can try most things, though you and your wife will have to let go of worrying about how much she eats. There's some info to read up on here: Baby-Led Weaning
