Suddenly refusing bottle of EBM...
« on: May 24, 2013, 18:47:21 pm »
My daughter is 17 wks old and about 2 weeks ago decided she would no longer take a bottle from my husband anymore.  He has been giving one to her every night since she was 2 wks old - she never experienced any nipple confusion.  I tried introducing different bottles and medium flow nipples but she just turns her head toward whoever is trying to feed here's chest and cries and cries.  I am giving it a couple of days and then trying the new medella calma nipple.  I have to go back to work soon and I am getting anxious!

Has anything else changed in that time?  Growth spurt?  Change in routine?

Her routine always seems to be changing haha!  She went through a growth spurt about a week prior...  She just seems a lot more aware these days too.

That probably goes a long way to explaining things.  Growth spurts and raised awareness can cause all sorts of issues.

If it is an issue if distractability then perhaps feeding in a dim room with no one else around might help.
I think you can only keep trying. Have a look at these tips to see if anything is applicable to your situation. A bottle (or more!) a day…  Mixed breast and bottle feeding
