Hi,
My 13 week old son has for the last 6 days dropped his last nap of the day. Furthermore, he has been sleeping 45 minutes for every single nap. Because of this he is only napping 3 times instead of 4 and getting a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes a day. That's worrying.
This is how his day looks like for the past 6 days.
Note: I only use the dummy to resettle him. He self soothes to sleep quite well and usually doesn't cry for more than 2-3 minutes. I have a 2.5 year old. I can't spend to long in the room trying to resettle him or else the 2.5 yo will come in. He use to take the dummy to resettle to sleep or at least rest. Now he refuses it. When I pick him up he seems fine and doesn't seem hungry. He seems to be able to last 3 hours between feeds.
E - 7.30
S - 9
A - 9.45 (I try to resettle with a dummy and he doesn't get out of the cot till 10.30)
E - 10.30
S - 11.15 (This is 1.5 hours from the time he woke from his 45 minute nap)
A - 12 (Try to resettle with dummy until 12.45, he's out of the cot at 12.45)
E - 1.15
A - Literally this is a nappy change and back to the S
S - 1.30
A - 2.15 (Try to resettle until 3pm)
E - 4
S - 4.15pm, By this time he's up 2 hour plus. REFUSES TO SLEEP.
E - 6
A - 6.20 bedtime routine
S - 6.30 (So tired now he's out in 1 minute as he's been up 4 hours plus)
I hope this detailed routine makes sense. Like Tracy's suggestion, I start compensating on him waking up 45 minutes into his nap by cutting short his awake times.
The last 6 days he has screamed blue murder for his last nap. I will try at times up to 1 hour to put him to sleep. He will complain for about 30 minutes and then start escalating. I go in then when he is really crying not just complaining to shush pat him but no luck.
Help! I don't know what is wrong and why he refuses his last nap of the day. So on top of trying to help him extend his 45 minute nap he refuses he's last nap of the day.
