A 2hrs 30
S 9.30- 11.30 ish
E 11.30
A 2hr 30
S 2.00 - 3.30

Im wondering if a longer stint at the end of the day may resolve it? What u think? X

How old is she now?

I would defo not cap the naps at 1:10-1:20 or something like that because that's the middle of the sleep cycle. I am sure you know yourself the difference in how you feel when you wake up in the middle of your nap because of a noise or something and waking up because you napped enough. I would let her complete 1.5h of sleep and then wake her up.
But I am not sure that your problem is the length of the naps, but more that she doesn't get enough A time and would rather work on that. I am also not sure that a long stretch before BT will help. First you need to find out what is the right A time for her in order to decide something about the A time before BT.

She is 5 months in 5 days

She has been comfortable in the day with 2 hr 20 a time and thi is hen she starts showing tired signs. However like you said somethings needs to be altered to avoid the ew.

She wakes up really happy when i wake her and i see no signs of overtiredness. However i see what u mean. I just cant fit 2 1.5 hr naps into the day without a long stretch of awake at the end of the day. That would be wake 7am nap 9.30- 11. Nap 1.30 - 3 & then cat nap would be 5.30-6 Would that not be too late if she is then going to bed at 7?

I cant work on an awake time when the end of the day is not right because the naps dont fit in the day.

Today i have increased her A time to 2hr 30 instead of 2hr 20. 9.30am had a 2 hr nap. However she has now just dropped off to sleep 2hr 20 since last nap. This means she will be awake around half 3 again i surely cant add another nap before bed? Whats the latest time for 30 min nap if she goes to bed at 7pm?

I was not planning on a cat nap this eve as i wont be able to fit one in (would be due 5.45-6 ish & this is too close to bed time?) so will see how she goes.

Thanks

I would give that a try. We had a long period that we had the same problem and someone here told me to just put him down at his usual BT and see what happens. I was of course reluctant, as I am sure you are now, but it worked for us for months! He sometimes had 1-1.5h A time before BT and he would still fall asleep and sleep great at night.

It's an especially tricky time before they drop the CN and what you experience now, like there are not enough hours for all her A times and sleep, is going to soon be solved - she is approaching the 3-2 transition, but for that she needs to be on higher A times. You can read about it more here: All about the 3-2 transition- 5/6 months

Thanks so much! I totally agree it is tricky and i find myself getting frustrated (when i know i shouldnt)

What you say makes sense. She actually woke up at 3.15 so second nap was 1 hr 20 and was showing tired signs at 5.20 so i thought i would try the cat nap. She had 30 mins and has actually just gobe to bed fine. I understand it sort of see's them through until bedtime as its such a short nap.

I think she was a bit overtired tbh from the 2hr 30 a this morning so tomorow i will try 2hr 25 awake instead.

Thanks for getting back to me x

Hi just filling you in on the last few days. She has been following the easy wuite nicely and i have not been cutting her naps short, she tends to wake up after 1hr20 - 1hr30.

Today though, she slept in.... My partner got up with our son at 6.50 so i could sleep in. She ha woken from 5.20- 5.45 and then dropped back to sleep. It wasnt til i woke up at 8.20 my partner said she was still in bed! (Which she has never done, she generally always wakes up between 6.45 & 7am. She woke up at 8.30.am

Her first nap we were out shopping so she only had 30 mins, second nap she was overtired so only did 30 mins! Then cat nap 30 mins.

Went to bed great and waiting to see what the morning brings!

Hope you enjoyed your sleep ;) Take it when you can :)
There will always be off days, even when EASY is perfect, if that ever happens. If you can then stay the next day at home and allow her to catch up on her sleep.
Sounds like you are doing great!

We have started getting several night wakes this morning was at 2am and 4am for around 30 mins each. Not crying, more like whining.

Then wu for the day at 7.10.

Does this sugget she needs longer a times? She is still doing around 2hr 20. Should i try again to push to 2hr 30?

NW are not necessarily connected to A time, there could be many reasons for them: 10 reasons (other than hunger) a baby can wake at night

I would try and increase A time by 10min and see if it makes a difference with NW.
