14 month old suddenly cries when put in crib for nap/bedtime
« on: August 26, 2013, 07:04:25 am »
My normally pretty good sleeper 14 month old DD is all of the sudden crying and throwing fits when I put her in her crib (or even walk near crib). I will take her into her room and walk towards her crib to put her down for a nap and she gets anxiety and cries and reaches for the door. I put her down and she sits up and cries. Where she used to just lay down and get cozy for her nap.
She was generally a good sleeper and would be put down fine to fall asleep on her own. She typically did 2 naps a day. And now I usually can't get her to take even 1 nap and even at night when I would think she would be very ready for bed at night w/o a day nap she still fights it.

Only things I can see would be why things have changed would be teething? I can see her first molar coming in and of course others in the front here and there too.
And she is still a little bit sick with a cold (has been for 1.5 weeks). She seemed to be doing this before she got sick though. And I don't remember her having many sleep issues when she has been sick before.
We are taking a vacation next week (where she will also be sleeping in a pack  n play) and I am hoping she will get back to her good sleeping ways. Is there anything you suggest or is there anything you think I may be missing here? What happened to my good sleeper?!?!

Hi there, sorry to hear you're having a rough time at the moment. Teeth can play havoc at this age as can all the developmental changes your LO will be going through.

Have you tried medicating before naps/BT to see if this makes a difference?

Would you like to post your EAS to see if any tweaking might help? It could well be the start of the 2-1 transition and if you are able to give a bit more detail we might be able to help some more.
