Dairy elimination and stored breast milk
« on: September 25, 2013, 15:54:51 pm »
I just started eliminating dairy yesterday because my DD has a lot of wind.

I have a TON of pre-elimination stored breast milk.   If I see improvement, does that mean I should not use the stored milk??

No, I wouldn't use it as it will contain the milk proteins that had been upsetting her  :(

I had this problem but I managed to donate mine. Maybe if the dairy elimination doesn't improve things and you go reintroduce dairy you could still use the milk. I wouldn't use it now though, stick to dairy free :)

I won't, but it is really heartbreaking, all that time spent pumping.

I just started the elimination this morning, what about milk I pump today, and in the near future. When do you think it will be okay to start saving it and knowing it's dairy free?

Personally I would wait a week - some may say longer but I think I started using my pumped milk after a week of being dairy free.

I know it seems like such a waste :( it takes a lot of time and effort to pump!

I believe it takes 2 weeks to get out of our system so I wouldn't bother pumping any milk to store until after that point unless you need it for immediate use.

From my research, it takes 2-3 wks for the dairy "nasties" to clear your system.
As previous ladies have said - I wouldn't use previous milk store if the elimination seems to be having a positive effect. Also, I'd hold-off on any pumping until you know for sure.
Pumping is a lot of effort ftp://

Ah, gutting :(  For the sake of all that liquid gold I hope you find the ED doesn't make a jot of difference ;)  But also that you do find something that will help.
