How long should 1 nap be??
« on: October 15, 2013, 13:17:32 pm »
Charlie has just turned 1 and we have been getting inconsistent ew. Easy was as follows
Awake anytime after 5
Nap 10.30-11 capped
Nap 1.30/1.45-3.30
Bed by 7.

Some mornings he will wake at 5 others. 2 days a week at nursery he only has 1 nap so took the plunge today and have gone for 1 nap.

His day so far woke 6
Nap at 12.15

He is still asleep now so how long should one nap be? Also what time for bt?

Ideally I would like a 7am wake up so what nap time and bt should I aim for?

Thanks in advance x

He's really young to be consistently on one nap so be on the lookout for OT.

One one nap, the nap usually needs to be at least two hours, often more - to keep to a 11.5-12hr day.

When my daughter was first on one nap we did 2 x 4.5hr A times, otherwise she quickly got OT. So we would do

7am awake,
11.30am nap 2.5-3hrs
2pm awake
6-7pm (depending on nap) asleep for the night.

If it's only occasional EWs I wouldn't think that's a routine issue would you? I'd expect that to be more every day?

If he's an 11hr night kid then how about pushing both naps later and going for a later bedtime?
