25 mos. jump in A time common?
« on: October 12, 2013, 20:34:04 pm »
So it's 1:30 pm and my 25 month old is refusing his nap for the first time. He's up there bouncing, chatting, calling mommy! I went in once since its so weird and took him pee and gave him a sip of milk. Never ever do that but thought maybe hunger?

Also, his night was about half an hour shorter than usual so that's why I put him down for the nap about half an hour earlier. Maybe he's needing more A time?

Normally
WU 6:45-7
Nap 1:00 pm (between an hour an hour 30 min)
BT 8-8:25(taking about 30-40 min to fall asleep)

This is just soooo odd for him. It's now 1:35 and he's still awake. He just called for me again. I can see him on the video monitor so I know he's fine.

Any ideas?

Finally asleep at 1:50pm! Went in there three times as opposed to never ever having to go in. Unless he's sick, but I don't think he is......

What would be common ATimes before and after the nap at this age?

we had a weird blip at 28 months where DD was doing very similar to you describe. It lasted for about 10 days and she has gone back to settling fine again.

A times vary so much at this age but I would imagine most 2-2.5 year olds can handle at least 6 hours in the am (we do about 6.5) and then we do a shorter pm. Our day is kind of...
A - 6.30-7am
Nap - 1.15/30pm - 3pm
BT- 7.15-7.30pm

Yes, lots of oddness around this age.  Don't take it as a permanent change, keep offering the nap!
