« on: October 18, 2013, 09:59:06 am »
Just that really!
DD was weighed yesterday&put on 5oz in 6days,so PHN
said to feed on demand during the night as long as she
doesnt go longer than 5hours.last night,she did4hrs between 2
feeds.
WWYD about daytime feeds?every 3hours was what i was aiming
for,but sometimes,she's asleep!
I *think*we used to wake DD#1,but i cant remember when we
started!

I never woke DD.  She would sometimes sleep for a good 3h nap and I'd just let her get on with it, figuring if she was hungry she'd let me know!  Probably if she'd tried that all day I would have woken her, but it would usually be one long nap and then the rest of the feeds might be closer together x

I've been debating the same thing. I was waking Medi during the day if it had been longer than 3 hours since she fed, but we've gotten all muddled up and I think it's the wrong idea. For the next few days I'm just going to feed her when she asks.

I did wake in the day for the first 2 wks but I only if he had been asleep 3hrs+. The dr at the hospital told me to do that to help supply and also to fit in enough food in the day so I wasnt up all night feeding instead. I stopped after the 2wks though.

Yes, both of them.

At the very beginning, LO1 lost a bit of weight and wasn't mega keen on eating so we had three or four days of waking him every three hours 24 hours a day to feed him.  He stacked on the pounds, got into eating, and we dropped waking him at night, but thereafter I always woke him to feed him during the day.  LO2 I woke to feed during the day, never at night.

Only in the day, never at night.
Oscar was very sleepy - jaundiced - so I fed him every 2.5 hrs if I could. Stripped him down, nappy changed etc. Then at night I left him be. He usually woke after 4 hrs first break, then every 3 hrs till morning.

Emma I fed every 3 hrs and then at night every 4. She had more issues with weight gain though so I started pumping quite early and topped her up with the pumped milk after the evening feeds. Wasn't going to go messing with my night sleep though. Not with EWing 2yr olds around LOL!

We didn't have to "wake" as such after 2 weeks with Ozzie, 3 or 4 with Emma.

In that case, yes, I would wake.  Sometimes you can end up with an OT cycle where they're too tired to wake to feed and then fall asleep when they do come to feed, so too much sleep becomes an issue (I hope that makes sense!)  and they are actually hungry.
