8 month old help!!!!
« on: January 19, 2014, 22:12:36 pm »
Hello again everyone.....my 8 mo old has been army crawling since a week now and has been doing it in his crib as well which is throwing off nap times and bedtime...he used to take 2 naps 1.5hrs each and slept from 7pm till 7am....with awake times of 3 hrs throughout the day.....the problem now is that I put him down for naps at his 3hr mark but as soon as I put him down he just turns over and crawls all over...like today, he crawled for 1 hour before sleeping but then he woke up 40 mins later at his cycle change and started crawling again...Nothing works when I try to put him back to sleep....nights are better because he is way too tired..he still rolls but he is too sleepy so he just changes sides and sleeps...what should I do? I am so lost....I have been doing ebt..other than that, I dont know how to get his naps straight....would he just give up someday? If yes, how many days does this last? Also, is he ready for maybe 2 to 1 transition? Maybe he just needs one long nap? Please help...really desperate here....sorry for so many questions....thanks in advance

Developmental stuff can really cause chaos! Hang in there and try to be as consistent as you can and it will pass. Your routine looks good, how long has he been on 3 hour A? Maybe he is ready for a bit more, have you tried another 15 minutes? It is pretty early for 2-1 but we had 1 nap shorter than the other at this age so it is sort of leaning towards the process but not any nap cutting or anything. He sounds incredibly proud of himself! I know it is maddening but really it will get better! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply.....he has been doing 3hr awake time since about 2 months...he is definitely tired at 3hr mark but all he wants to do is get on all fours and crawl...I hope this passes soon...I would cap his morning nap to 1hr if it was 1hr:)

Hey hun, I am so sorry to have run off and left you. My DS got in an accident and needs me to schlep him around the house as his knee is bunged up. :( Honestly, I would do whatever gets you through during these lovely phases. You will have some work to do when things return to normal but it is totally up to you. Someone else on here might tell you to just be as consistent as you can and try to get through but it is your choice. If he has been on 3hourA that long, I would surely go for an A bump, maybe he has higher A needs than average? Keep on offering lots of floor time to let him crawl and the novelty will wear off! Hang in there!

Thanks for the hugs. Always appreciated! He is doing better today, we had a rough-housing accident ( mommy guilt!) and he twisted his knee but we are seeing some fabulous progress. He is bending it a bit and very cheerful. Keep up the crawling practice, hang on and do what you feel is right to get through, keep me posted!
