1-0 finally over but still getting EWUs!
« on: January 24, 2014, 20:04:22 pm »
Ds is 3y7mo, finally dropped the nap last october and has been on 7pm set bt since then. We had ALOT of 5-5.30 wus which gradually improved. I have noticed that he will do 7-7 for 2-3 days, then 7-6.30, 7-5.30/45 on following days. We have a gro clock so he does wait for the sun but rarely goes back to sleep.

Does anyone else notice any patterns in wu? any ideas if i can fix this since gro clock doesnt work for it? Dyt earlier bt on day 4 (6.30) would help?

We dropped the nap before Christmas (had capped back to 20 minutes in the end). We brought bedtime back from7.30 7.40pm to 6.45pm (normally asleep by 7pm) and we too are getting the early mornings.

I get 5am, then the following day a 6am and so on and so forth. Initially I thought OT, but once he has caught up from an early start with post 6am wake up one the next day he is back to 5am again. I also reckon that if DS was OT this would be quite cumulative by now and we would be back into NW territory......

I am beginning to think that he is UT at bedtime, as we have had no NWs for several weeks, he wakes up bright and early (Ds 3y3m is LSN 11/24hrs optimum)

So I am trying to push bedtimes back out. Presumably all these early bedtimes need pushing back out at some point?

Hmm i thought once nap dropping.they would settle on a longer night for a while?! wishful thinking...

I would agree with the ut but until recently we were getting nws/co in motn too which i thought was accumulated ot and the.ew.were making worse. If ewu is due to.ut wouldnt they do a longer night with a pre 6 wu? we had 5.45 wu yesterday, 7-5.45 night so shouldnt.he have slept longer last night?

But if it was ot then his behaviour would be awful and.hes been ok...

its confusing. I thought once nap.was gone things would be simpler...

what's his mood like hun? 11 hours is not unheard of at all.
I would think his mood is a good gauge of whether he is getting enough sleep...

DS did 12 hours at night when he first dropped and there are some who do 13-14 but many too who settle on about 11 and as long as he is happy in himself I would not worry. If you really think he needs more then if it were me i would do a 6.30pm BT for a night or two and see if it affects wake up at all...

I would say that a NW is indicative of being OT and would try early bedtime too for a couple of nights in that case. Perhaps you are getting OT/UT loop?

I tried the earlier bedtimes with my DS initially and thought he was OT, he just woke up even earlier! So I am sticking with 7pm and pushing out.......

When we first cut the nap we got a week or so of 11 1/2 hours overnight - but that's it as far as longer nights have gone here, and to be honest I didn't expect them - only hoped that I would get the total I got before of 11 hours...although with our early mornings we are delving into 10.5 hours which he copes with pretty well, but is not ideal....so I agree that mood is a fairly good indicator.

I would be aiming for the same total you were getting ideally before he dropped the nap - most of DS2's contemperarys are on 12 hours at the moment.

I too thought it would be easier...and in a way it is - at least it is only bedtime that can be juggled with!

Good luck.....

Lol true! He was having about 12hrs before nap dropping and once through majority of ot of 1-0 has been doing 12hr nighs which decrease over the week... guess i could try ebt again but early in 1-0 they just led to more ew :-/

ill wait till he has a later wu of 7ish then try 6.30 bt...he woke at 6 today so ebt  and a cu night will be a 5 am wu... Ugh. Not going there.again!

Hope pushing out works for u. Let me know how u get on! i can try that next...
