weaning sleeping bags...
« on: February 25, 2014, 14:31:23 pm »
anone have any issues when they took them off??
Just wondering really....M is going into a BGB May/June time and am wondering whether to ditch the s bags in the next month or so to get her used to sleeping without them before the move.

When we took the side off of R's cot to convert it to a BGB (though it still has three sides up iykwim), we tried then to get her out of the sleeping bag. No joy. We had to take the side down after a successful escape and so tried both at once. It was suggested to me that I should leave her in them whilst she's adjusting to the BGB. On that basis (and the fact that R still sleeps with a sleeping bag and refuses to go to bed without it - nap and BT!!!) I would start trying to get her out of them now before the move to the BGB or you could end up with a situation like ours - too many changes at once.

How you get her out of them I don't know, but once you figure it out, please do let me know  ::)

I put DS in Gro Bedding, which zips the duvet to the bottom sheet on both sides, so it wasn't too much of a transition for him  :)

After a few months I left the open cotbed side unzipped, and last week I put him under a regular duvet cover (which doesn't zip on) and he's been absolutely fine  ;D I warned him that if he pulled the duvet too much it would come right off and he'd get cold, so he hasn't  ;)

So from sleeping bag to regular duvet has taken just over 6 months (DS doesn't do well with transitions). He's still in the cotbed as he still fits, but will be moving to a single later this year. He should be fine as it's less of a transition now that he's under a regular duvet. As with most things, slow small steps work best with DS!

thanks.....we moved H at 2.5 and he was still in s bags and then we took them off about 3 months later and he was totally fine. M is older though and also I don't have any sheet s bags for the summer and only 1 1tog and am def not buying anymore! Maybe I will take them away around Easter time so she has time to get used to being without them.

She is fine with a duvet - we use one as well when it is cold as our house is freezing!

R ha a duvet and a sleeping bag. Since she got over the duvet introduction drama, she insists on having both regardless of how warm or cold the house is, go figure!!

Can't remember there being a problem with Olly. Make sure you tuck the duvet well in so it stays over her!

I was worried about weaning sleeping bag but Dd ditched hers herself during the summer because she was getting too hot. No problems here either :)

yes, bless her at the CM the other day she wet the bed (they forgot to put the pull up on) and when they came in she had taken the s bag off, her tights and pants and gone back to sleep. So cute!
