16 month old sleep regression, help, becoming zombified
« on: May 02, 2014, 14:21:02 pm »
Hello,

Not the first time posting about sleeping issues with my daughter, God bless her, but I am exhausted and slowly losing my mind.

My daughter used to be a great sleeper...after breast feeding I would either sing to her for a few minutes or tell her a story, and then it was off to dreamland. No fuss, just lay her down and leave the room and she was out. She might wake once during the night for some water, but that was it. Now, it's war. Wife breast feeds and then from anywhere between one two hours, she needs to cuddled. She drifts and gets sleepy, but once we lay her down, she springs back up screaming. We pick her up, calm her down before laying her back down...only to repeat it.

My wife and I don't know what to do or what is wrong. We have never really had a problem with her sleeping. It all changed about three weeks ago. Even her daily nap has changed...from sleeping two t two and half hours straight, she wakes up after forty minutes to be cuddled and then goes back to sleep for another hour or so.

Any advice?

There is a developmental leap at this age, and it can really mess with sleep. It usually involves a bout of SA :-\

Can you post her typical day in EAS? - or wake, nap and bed times?
Is she teething?

At this age it's best not to PU too much but to use Wi/wo with a previously independent sleeper if you want to try to do some st. You may find a change in routine helps a lot though so let's look at that first
