Help with 1hr naps and swaddle
« on: May 28, 2014, 17:12:06 pm »
Hi

I have very similar issue and need a help also. First of all my LO is not able to fall asleep without a swaddle at all! She used to sleep very well without swaddling at her first weeks after birth, but now its impossible. I also have a problem with naps as she sleeps quite well at the night time. Let me tell you her daily routine first and then will explain you my problems:

7am wake up, play
8am feed , swaddle to sleep(she's ussually very tired after second part of the night as she's struggle to settle down)

8.30 - 10.30 nap (trying to make her nap longer but its impossible)

11am wake up, play
12 am feed, swaddle to sleep

12am - 1pm sleep

1pm - 2.30 pm wake up, play
2.30pm - 3.30 pm sleep

3.30pm- 5pm awake and play

5pm - 8 pm sleeping

8 pm - bath, feed
9pm sleep up to 2at night(feeding during sleep and sleep straight away)
5am wake up (feeding during a sleep - but struggle to fall in a deep sleep but no crying just cooing and moving in the swaddle)

So her maximum lenght of a nap during the day is 1h (but only in the swaddle).
Also please let me tell you that I have to "cover" her face during the day. So we cover with a swaddle cotton blanket (with the safe way). Without it she wahe up after 30 minutes of slepping. At the night time she will fall without covering her face. This is the worst issue as I know some parents just put the baby in the cot, and after some time babies just fall asleep - mine soesnt do that. What do I do wrong?

Hi Paulina,
I've asked for your question to be moved into it's own topic, so don't be alarmed if it moves.
How old is your lo?  It's very common for young babies to need swaddling to sleep, because they can't control their hands and feet, they jerk themselves awake. I'm curious how/why you cover her face?  Can you darken her room instead?

Mine were both swaddled until 7 mos or a bit older. They loved it!  Please don't worry about swaddling if it helps her sleep.
