Hello, LO is 6.5 months old. Around 5 months she started taking only 30 minute naps. She always wakes up in a good mood, doesn't seem OT, and I was thinking she was UT, but I have played with her awake times and nothing seems to work to get the nap past 30 minutes. She is awake about 2.5 - 3 hours right now (I have tried going longer as well, to see if that works, but it just makes her OT). I can usually read her cues pretty well, and know when she is ready to go down. She is good at going to sleep on her own, sometimes will play in her crib for a while, but typically falls asleep within 10 minutes. I have tried wake-to-sleep which has never been successful, and I have tried standing by her crib with my hand on her belly. That got me a 45 min nap one time, but usually just results in waking her up. I have tried leaving her alone for a while to see if she goes back to sleep on her own, ssh/patting, rocking, everything...but once she is awake, she is AWAKE, and there is no going back to sleep for a longer nap. One day I was exhausted and she wouldn't fall asleep so I put her in my bed with me...and she took a 2.5 hour nap! I tried it again another day, and again, she slept 2 hours. Today, she took two 2 hour naps with DH. I don't want to get her in the habit of sleeping with us, but I can't figure out why she will sleep longer with us, but not on her own. Also, I should mention that she is a great nighttime sleeper. She goes down around 8 PM and sleeps straight through until 6:30/7. Any ideas how to get her to nap longer? Like I said, she isn't usually cranky, but four 30 minute naps a day (after a few short naps, she does get OT, and then I tend to shorten A time in afternoon) makes it seem like all we do is nap...it's very difficult to plan anything or go anywhere.
