OT mess for over a week
« on: June 22, 2014, 19:22:27 pm »
My 23mo DD was doing either 12hr nights, no nap or 10.5hr night, 1hr nap. The last week shes having around 9 1/2-10hr total a day,  she's refusing to nap, to go bed, no apop is working, having lots of nw, some long. We have tried meds for teeth but no difference. I think shes got her self so OT that she just can't sleep no matter how exhausted she is. We usually ride OT out and it corrects itself but she seems to be getting less and less sleep with no end in sight. Any ides how to catch her up when she will not sleep?

It could be a developmental thing at this age, and if it is then sadly you will just have to ride it out.

You say no apop is working, have you tried car naps? This is the only thing that will work for DD now she is older.

Hi buttonbobs
yes I think it may partly development, her 2yo molars have been up for a month now, however it doesnt explain why things are so bad as they are the same as 4 weeks ago. Our next door neighbours 3yo twins stay up till 12 running/banging wall and radiators/screaming most nights and I think they disturb her alot, we are discussing tryingi to move rooms because of them.
A car nap has worked once but when we wemt to transfer her to her cot she woke and wouldn't go off again, staying in the cars not an oprion at rhe moment its to hot for her. Yesterday we got a short nap by walkijg for a long time in a quiet area, but when she changed sleep cycle she woke very upset because she didn't know where she was. Sadly it wasn't enough sleep to help the OT and she wasn't asleep until gone 9 last night after being very upset.

I find now DD will only stay asleep while in the car with it moving so we just keep on driving if she really needs it (not ideal I know, but at least we get the benefit of air conditioning then).

Have you tried EBT? She may need a shorter than 12 hour day without a nap?
