18 month early waker schedule who is heading to 1 nap?
« on: July 06, 2014, 18:20:29 pm »
Help.... My lg has been and early walker since sleeping through at 7 months (5.20am ish)

Now recently she has been sleeping to 6 ish some days and I try to do 1 nap (seems to be going ok but only sleeps 1.5 hours). At nursery they end up not putting her down until 1.15....then she wakes at 2.45 ish...and steadily has got overtired and started waking early again. She woke at 5.20 yesterday so had to have 2 naps...had an am one of 1hr 9.30-10.30 but then fights a pm nap...didn't go down until exhausted in car at 4.00 for twenty minutes.  She then stayed up till 7.30 and slept until 6.20 today.....right,...try to go back to 1 nap.... Put her down at 11.45- but woke at 1pm....was hard hard work from 4.30 onwards as so tired. Have put to sleep now at 7pm.

My questions / issues are...

1 I think she needs just one nap, as if she has a morning one...she won't have a pm or if she does it's very late and ends up a catnap.

2. How todo you get a 5.30 waker to a normal 1 nap...especially at nursery when they put them down after lunch

3. Why won't she just have a Huge 2 hour nap so is rested and everything would be fine????!!!

4. We do early bt, but going ridiculously early ends in even more early waking, so can't put down before 6.45 if we want any chance of getting past 5.30

Many thanks

Hey there,
I think your right she needs to go to one nap. Your probably already in OT land and the process can cause OT anyway so I would personally go cold turkey with a set nap and Bt and see if she adjusts. It can take a good week or two but you should see progress in less than a week.

What do you think?

Something like this would work for an EW...
WU 6 anything before this treat as a NW. (Dark, stay in room etc)
Nap 10.30 at the absolute earliest. I'd try for 11 if you can though. Allow up to 2 hrs for a nap (more if you think she needs it during the transition) all WU before 1.5 hrs try to resettle back to sleep.
Bt 6

Once this settles a bit then I would shift the day....so bt can get closer to 7 and WU closer to 6.30
