Won't go down easy at BT and NW - eyes on routine please
« on: June 30, 2014, 10:43:39 am »
Nights have been pretty horrid for us for weeks now due to leaps and teeth.

Things have settled a little since Thursday and giving dream meds. We're still getting lots of fuss at BT where as before you could just lay her down and she would self settle.
I'm finding she's settling much better for DH than myself (playing on the fact that I AP'd a lot when teeth etc were bad?)
Past few days we've had a NW but not at a consistent time and last night was only a couple of hours after she had DM so didn't think was teeth discomfort.

Is her routine still ok for her age? do I need to tweak? She's been on 1 nap for about 2 months now with no real change to A times. Have posted weekends EAS below.

Saturday
Wu 5.20
Nap 11-1.05
Bed 6.30
NW 8.50-10.30 (dirty nappy then wouldn't settle)

Sunday
Wu 5.15
Nap 10.15-12.50 (usual have a rule no nap before 11 but she was falling asleep on my lap. had to settle after 1hr15)
Bed 6.30
NW 11.55 (about an hour. DM at 9.45)

Monday
Wu 6.15

It could be a developmental shift, I would say teeth but you appear to have covered that with the DM.

Have you thought about pushing that nap out later - it is still quite early in the day for an LO on one nap?

Hi

What time would you suggest for nap. She's an early riser (has been since about 9mths old) and wu time is around 5.30. Set a nap time regardless of wu?

Mon - thur she goes to a cm. Her nap there is around 12.30 but she only sleeps 1.10 there.

Think she's OT at the moment. She's not showing any tired signs in the evening at all but last 2 nights she's had less than 10hrs ns.
Will try a 6pm BT tonight to see if I can get her to catch up a bit.

Thanks
Lauren

You could try EBT for a day or so and see if she tacks on, but in my opinion, she won't sleep in later unless the nap is a little later.

If the nap is at 12.30 four days a week, have you tried keeping the nap at this time at home too and seeing if doing the same thing seven days a week helps to even things out. You might find the whole day shifts slightly later, and may well correct this OT?

No I haven't tried keeping it the same tbh but I shall give it a go though and see what happens. What time would you do BT?

You may well need to try and keep it at 6.30/7ish and then let her stay in bed in the morning until 6.30/7 ish. In the longrun anyway, in the short term just follow her cues. Keep a record of her EAS and then we can look at it.

Ugh she's so OT it's untrue. The past few nights she's had less than 10hrs and only an hour during the day. You can imagine the state of her!

Cm said she fell asleep in her highchair mid lunch :( that's never happened before!
Then fell asleep in the car home. Got her out and she was still half asleep. Tried to get her changed and milk and bed but that was almost an hour ago and she's still fighting it!

She's that tired she doesn't know what to do with herself.. Pulling at her eyelids, rubbing her face. She just can't settle!
It drives me insane!

What was your EASY like yesterday? This may not be OT, it could just be getting used to the new pattern - you did only try it yesterday right?

If you want to do this you'll need to try it for a week or so before you can see if it'll work, but post your EAS and I'll see if we can spot anything.

Her EAS yesterday was the same as pretty much its been all week. It's from tomorrow that I am going to stick to the same times as the cm.

Wu 5
Nap 12.30-1.40
Bed pd 6 - asleep 7.15
NW 12am - gave meds

Today
Wu 4.45 - almost got her back to sleep but woke again after a few mins and then awake

I'm wondering if her bottom molars are now on their way...

It could be. But it could also be UT/OT behaviour. Try medicating if you're unsure and change the EAS and after a few days we may have a better idea, hugs xx

I'm back... Things are still bad  :(
Have kept to 12.30 nap and am going to stick to this still for another few wks. We did have a couple of days where the wu was particularly early and when we were out in the car she dozed off which I couldn't help but kept it short.

I've been medicating and it doesn't seem to be making much difference as you'll see last night I gave her DM at 3am and yet she still woke at 4.30.. I'm guessing OT. we used to get 10hr nights when OT but that seems to be 9hrs now  ::) I just don't know what to do anymore? I'm sick of the messing around and crying  at BT. She has always had a short nap at the cm but until recently would be tired and literally crash out for 11hrs.

Here is her EAS for past week. Any thoughts? Help!!!!!
