13 month old refusing sleep-help please!
« on: July 30, 2014, 20:03:53 pm »
My daughter has always been a great sleeper. Bed time @ 7pm. Wakes @ 7 am.
E: 730/745
A: 745/8-830/9
S: 9-1030
A: till 11
E: 11- 1130
A: till 2:30-330
S: 230/330 for roughly 40 min.
E: 430 (little snack like grapes)
A: till 530
E: 530
A: till 630 (includes bath and story time)
S 7pm
The past few days she has refused naps and last night I couldn't get her down till after 9. I feel like she's working in her molars since she's pretty snotty and drooly...she is sooo tired but as soon as I put her in her crib she pops right up & fusses. Sometimes she just babbles but ten minutes into that she is screaming. I've tried laying her back down and rubbing her back while humming to her. Hasn't been working. She does have a paci that she tosses over the edge and says "uhoh" waiting for me to come in and pick it up. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, sorry you were missed.

This might be better placed over on the toddler sleep board but I'll try and help if I can!

Sounds like you're in the 2-1 transition time. Sleep can go really haywire when they want to start to begin the transition. That and teething!

She's doing really well in terms of her overall sleep throughout the day. 12hrs at night plus a 1.5hr and a 40mins nap. Has she always been high sleep needs?

That first A time is vvv short for a 13-month old. I would work on extending that first A by 15mins every 3 days or so. The fact she's sleeping for 1.5hrs makes me think she does like a short A first thing, but in order to work towards transitioning to one nap, it really needs to be around at least 11 or 11.30.

I would also cap that last nap to 30mins to begin with then keep BT at the same time.

I'll be back in a mo to post some really helpful links about the 2-1. They helped me no end.
From 2 to 1 nap transition (10-12m and older)
from 2 to 1 nap - how, when and the bumps

Hey there, just going to move this to toddler sleep, as LO is over 12 mos.
