Erratic nap length
« on: September 06, 2014, 06:06:02 am »
Hi all,

My 14-week-old son's naps are pretty erratic. Sometimes he sleeps for 45 minutes, and sometimes he'll go 2 hours+. I've been tracking his naps ever since we started EASY, and I just can't seem to discover any patterns. It's not that he's incapable of getting through his transition between sleep cycles -- he just sometimes does and sometimes doesn't. I've heard that short naps are a sign of being overtired, and also a sign of being undertired. Is there anything that reliably correlates with nap length?

I'm not really that bothered by his shorter naps. He almost always wakes up refreshed and happy. I'm just curious.

Short naps are also, sadly, a part of being 4-6 months old!  :o  Many moms here find this to be the case, so you're definitely not alone. If you're not bothered by it, let it ride out and I promise they will lengthen again in time.
