Naps getting worse and worse
« on: September 16, 2014, 16:34:02 pm »
I need help, I am losing my mind!  I feel like I spend my entire day in a dark room trying to get my baby to nap.
He is 11weeks and napping has got progressively worse and we only get the odd 30 minute nap in.

He self settles sometimes, yesterday I left him in the crib calm for 2 naps after protesting for 15-20mins he slept but not for more than 30 mins.   I tried holding him through the transition but he still woke.  So I picked him up and tried to calm him... He only settled back for one of the naps.  I had the perfect awake time as he didn't struggle until he was alone in the crib...normally there is a battle just getting him calm.

Shh pat diets seem to work in the crib...he knows I am there and only gets him more awake and excited.  So that is why I resorted to leaving him in the crib.

I don't know what to do....he is obviously overtired and I think it is affecting his night sleep.  And the whole day gets to be a huge struggle.  I don't know whether to keep trying to extend the nap or get another one in or. Up my losses.

How's it going now hun? Sorry you've not had a reply until now. It's a really tricky time for sleep around now as lo's become more aware of the world around them. If it helps, my DD outright refused naps at this age for around a week, drove me up the wall!

Would you mind posting your easy to see if there's anything that could be tweaked? Average A times are around 1hr 15-20 at this age but that would be shorter after a shorter nap x
