6mths and short naps
« on: September 22, 2014, 04:03:50 am »
DS is 6mths next week and for the past 3-4 weeks all his naps have been 30-45 mins and he's often been waking early.
This was his usual routine before things went pear shaped.

6am wake and feed
8am nap
9.30 feed
11.30 nap
1.00 feed
3.00 nap
4.00 feed
5.30 feed
6.00 sleep
9.00 dream feed
He usually wakes between 3-4am for a feed.

Previously if he woke early from a nap I could resettle him but now he's having none of it. I was thinking maybe he was getting ready to drop the third nap so I tried increasing his wake time but he still has short naps. I'm not really sure where to go from here. Do I just increase his wake time and try to ride out the overtiredness and hope he'll start napping longer? I tried shortening his wake times so he was taking 4 naps a day but he refuses a fourth nap.

Help!!!

His a times are to short Hun. Try pushing the first A time towards 2.5 hrs and give it a few days for him to adjust. Keep trying to apop if he short naps. If he is more tired you will more likely have success. If you get a good morning nap I'd shoot for a longer next A too etc. your probably heading towards cutting the CN, but not till he's at 3 hrs or so between naps.

It's a tough age developmentally too. Is he trying to crawl? Roll Sit? Growth spurting?
