Ds not napping long enough bc he's hungry?
« on: September 25, 2014, 04:34:03 am »
Ds is still on a 2 hr easy during the day and after he eats it's usually 1-1.5 hrs before he falls asleep for naps. He takes a while to settle and so I feel like if he's lucky he gets 45 min but it's usually only 30 bc he wakes up starving kind of like at night. How do I fix this???? He gets ot towards the end of the day which mean even longer to settle for naps at the end of th ed day.

Hun can you post a full day's EASY?  If he's three months+ you probably want to be extending A times a bit to get some better naps.  Is he an independent sleeper yet?  I assume you are breastfeeding?  Even so every two hours at this age sounds like quite a lot  :-\ he may well be snacking and not taking good feeds and you may need to consciously start to increase the feed intervals a bit, just push 5 mins at a time.  Is there any chance he's in discomfort from something like reflux?  Is he feeding two-hourly round the clock?

Hey katherine he's 14 weeks but 7 adjusted. I'll hop back on and post it once I get dd off to school. He does seem to be taking full feeds each time and I've kind of been doing more on the demand side of feeding rather than being strict on the routine but I agree that it's probably time to change that!!

Oh and I don't think it's reflux...He seems to be fine with that and it's not always every 2 hrs...He'll go to 3 hours and at night just this week he's been doing 4 hrs. But I'll Post When I Get back. I have it written down I just gotta find it lol

Ok I couldn't find the written on I had but his awake times last around 2-2.5 hrs and his naps during the day last anywhere from 30-45 min but maybe an hr if I can catch it quick enough to help him resettle. His EASY is a little tricky in the morning bc he falls asleep at some point when I take DD to school. Im sorry I cant give exact times. His BT is 730/800 and ill dream feed him around 10.

This is what I have for today so far
E 330 am
S 330 - 7 am
E 715
A 715-9
S 9-945
E 1000
Hes still awake now but hes fussy. If I hold him he will fall asleep so hes on his boppy next to me with his paci. Im trying to keep him up until 1145 or 12 but he will be ready to eat again and he will be ready to go to sleep so i don't know what to do since i don't want him to get used to being fed to sleep....

If he's only 7 weeks corrected I think 2-2.5h awake is way way too long, DS at nearly 17 weeks can only just about handle 2h. An average at 2 months is only 1h-1h15 so I would be aiming for something in that region.

Ok that makes sense. That's what he normally seems to be wanting to do but I'll try and sometimes stretch it. Does anyone know when the adjusted age thing doesn't factor in? That is the confusing part to me and I have to remind myself that even though he's X weeks he's really only X weeks ykwim??

There's no hard and fast rule really with A times.  Developmentally you tend to correct until around 2 years of age, at which point a lot of LOs will have caught up.  A times are often somewhere in the middle of the 'real' and corrected ages.  If he is showing signs at 1h-1h15 then I would just put him down then, he'll likely sleep much better for it x
