Not sure were we are
« on: October 03, 2014, 21:53:30 pm »
It all went wrong somewhere

So i went back to work and we moved house and we had my mum staying with us and we are still in the process of unpacking, as u can imagine Oskars routine has gone out the window. In fact I havent got a clue whether we are coming or going what time he is ready for bed, is it two naps or one he is having etc.
he has been to the childminders twice now and both times he slept for 1.20 minutes for the first naps after 4.30A time. Does he do that at home for me? Erm no chance... It has become a battle at home. I put him down, he rolls and gets up and stands and cries. And we do repeat, repeat, repeat. He has been an independent sleeper since he was 4 months old, however whilst mum was staying with us most nights he ended up sleeping with us in bed, out of sheer convenience and so all of us could get some sleep. So i decided that last night will be the first night of him sleeping in his cot, still in our bedroom. Honestly it wasnt this difficult to sleep train him at 4 months, this was rough. He was awake from 3.30-5.30....crying on and off, i fed him then and he slept with me a couple of hours, as i just passed out whilst feeding.
Suppose my question is what does your 11 month old do in terms of routine, and how on earth do i get him to sleep longer than 1.20min, then we can move onto one nap.

Hugs hun, 11-12 mths can be a silly age, particularly if they're on the cusp of walking.
Can you post an example of eas before things went silly and how the last two days went?

1hr20 min naps here were often UT. :-\

Well today has gone to pot, as we have been driving around most of the day. If i remember rightly before it all changed, it was

7
11.20-12.40
4.40-5
8.15BT

And it was ok, he settled for bed quickly, then we went through a screaming period and he just wouldnt settle unless he has about 3.30A after a 20 min nap.

At the childminders he has 4.30A, i guess he is due an increase again. Everytime i tried to increase A time he cuts the nap short as if OT, so we go back to the previous A time.

What would a day on two naps look on 4.45A? Or is that too much A time to even have teo naps?

Honestly, I think it looks like he needs to make the jump to 1 nap. They do get a bit OT in the process but if you get a rubbish nap and you can't resettle back to sleep then you can do EBT.

I'd be tempted to try something like 4hrs45 first A, try for a good 2hr nap and 5 hrs A to bt ie
WU 7
Nap 11.45-1.45
Bt 6.30-6.45

Let him sleep as long as he likes up to 3 hrs and resettle all naps less than 1.5 if you can. For a shocker day ie 40 min nap won't resettle you can do 20 mins in the car ie
WU 7
Nap 11.45-12.30
CN 4-4.20
Bt 7

What do you think Hun?

I know what u mean, yesterday he ha a 40 min nap in the morning and that was after 4.45A, granted he slept for more than 12 hours as was makibg up for rubbish sleep the day before.

Im off work from thirsday and I think that i will have to attempt to get the 1 nap routine established, it will be unfair to just labd this on the childminder. Let u know how it goes

Sigh....after 4.50 min he still gives me a 45 minute nap no chance of resettling he happily lays there for a couple of minutes before getting upset.
I know generally 40 mins is UT, could it be OT at all?

I'd hold that A for 3 days and keep trying to resettle. If he won't go back to sleep you can sit I nether room in the dark with him for a bit so he learns it's sleep time
