21 month old early waking
« on: February 15, 2015, 00:43:43 am »
I got some great help here during the 2-1 nap transition and for previous early wakings so I'm back for more!
So here is our usual schedule

Wake--6:45
Nap--12:30-2:30
Bed--7:00

Lately she has been waking anywhere from 5-6. I will replug her binky and get a little more sleep out of her. Then the odd thing is I will here all kinds of banging around in the crib and resolve to go to get her but then suddenly it will be quiet for another 10 minutes or so. This can go on and on for an hour or two! So I feel like neither of us is getting good sleep for those last few hours!
I'm not sure if it's too early for those 2 year molars and we are having a hard time getting a look in there to see if anything is sprouting.
I should also mention that she just finished antibiotics for her fifth ear infection since October. She seems healthy at the moment. But we are going to an ear specialist next week.
Anyway, I was hoping a new pair of eyes could take a look at our day/night and tell me if there's anything I could be doing different. Thank you so much!!!

Hi there, sorry you haven't gotten a reply yet! :-[

It could be a few different things, I guess. Possibly the 2yr molars are starting to move, and she's maybe had some discomfort from the ear infections. But, I think it might be worth a routine tweak if the early wakings are happening frequently (most days of the week).

I think you have a couple different options. The first would be moving the nap back to 1pm. You can still let her sleep for 2hr, if you'd like. If you keep the 2hr nap, BT may move a bit as well, to 7:30/8 or may be fine staying there (it's different for different kids). You could also move the nap to 1pm and cut it to 1.5hr and keep the 7pm BT.

When did she move to one nap? Do you think she's pretty average in her sleep needs?
