6.5 mo no sleep more than 45mins
« on: January 02, 2015, 06:42:19 am »
My 6 mo bb's schedule:
Wakes 6:30
And only sleeps 9-9:45 am
1-1:45 pm
4-445 pm
Never sleeps more than 45 mins
He is a selfsleeper at nights and sleeps at 8pm
Wake ups every 45 mins till 11 pm, when he eats at 11 wake up every 1.5 hour till 630 am
When he wakes up he cries everytime and can't sleep by his own.
Eats well 9200 gr already, there is  nothing wrong but the naps and sleeps. What can i do to make him sleep longer during nights at least?

Welcome to BW!

I think his A times are a bit off and that's why he is not napping for more than 45min. I would try and increase the first A time to 2:45h A time for 4 days and if it doesn't help then to 3h A time for 4 days. You might still get short naps but only on the 4th day we will know if the A increase has worked or not.
At his age you are aiming for him to have 2 naps and not 3 anymore. I assume you are still offering 3 naps because he is napping too short.
I would also try and keep his day shorter. If he wakes up every day at 6:30 in the morning then I wouldn't keep him awake till 20, but would try rather a BT of 19 so he doesn't get OT.

Hopefully when naps are better and A times are more age appropriate then it will effect his night sleep as well as it's all interconnected.

Is he an independent sleeper when he goes down for naps and BT? And how are you settling at night when he wakes up? Are you doing PU/PD?

First thank you for your answer.
Before he goes down for naps and also bt i sing a lullaby kiss him and give he's dummy and he sleeps in 5 or 10 mins when i stay with him in his room. When he's alone drops the dummy and cries. I stay just nearby to give it back.
BT is also the same. But during NW he just wants my touch my smell. He fall asleep as soon as I do first PU/PD. If he's father is there for PU/PD he cries, denies to sleep till he drops off.
It's too easy to make him sleep for me but tiring cause it's nearly every hour at night.

Yes, it is tiring.
Try the A time increase and let me know how it's going.

Hi again.!
I did the 3 to 2 transition as you said. Now he sleeps mostly 1.5 hours twice a day (thank god) but night sleeps are still the same. Wakes every 45 mins as he fall asleep at 730 pm. Is there any magic touch that makes him sleep 1.5 hrs at least? To make disappear the dark circles under my eyes :(

He sleeps every 3-3.5 hours. Is it too much to be awake?? For 7 months?

No, it's not too much, sounds right to me and the good naps are a sign that the higher A times are working.
How much A time does he have before BT? And could you give more details about night time? Does he wake every 45min the entire night? Just the first half? Second half? And what are you doing every time he is waking?

3.5 hrs and he goes to bed. But it takes 1 hour sometimes for him to sleep. In first half till dreamfeed (at about 11 pm) he wakes up every 45 mins. I just do PU/PD each time. But last week was a disaster, he woke up every 45 mins during whole nigt and never sleep after 4:30 am. So I thought he was hungry and started to fed him. (Breastfreding I mean) now at 6:30 pm 11 pm and 3 am i feed him so he sleeps 1.5 hours after 11 and wakes up at 7 am. This is my nightshift:
7 pm bedtime 730-740 sleep
Then Crying every 45 mins
11 feeding - the. Sleeps 1.5 hours and cries
PU/ PD every 1.5 hours till 3 am
3 am feeding then he cries every 1.5 hours or if I'm lucky 2 hours till 7 am
After i started to feed him at 3 am he started to sleep 30 -45 mins longer
He wakes up 7 times at least during one night! PU/PD whole time and breast feeding twice :(

Oh, hon, that sounds difficult.
It sounds to me that he is OT when he goes to bed and that can effect the whole night. Could you try and not give such a long A time in the evening and see if it helps?
When does he wake from his PM nap? Is there a way to push BT a bit earlier?

I would try first 19 as BT but that by then he is already in bed sleeping and if that doesn't work then 18:30. It's just for a little while till he can handle the longer A times and his whole day will stretch.
