6 week old naps
« on: February 09, 2015, 01:32:44 am »
DS goes down for bedtime in his Moses basket in our bedroom without a fuss. We do the four s wind down, and put him down awake but drowsy. Sometimes he falls asleep instantly, other times it takes him ten minutes but there isn't any crying or fussing. I've been trying to do naps in his crib in his room and they definitely don't go as smoothly. We'll do the exact same wind down, but putting him in his crib he'll do ok initially, but then will start fussing, so then we'll shush-pat but I think we may be doing I wrong. Does my 6wo have an aversion to his crib already?

We got the Moses basket instead of a bassinet I case this became an issue. We can have him nap in the Moses basket in his bedroom. Then put the Moses basket in his crib, then just him in his crib. Until he does 5 hr stretches at night consistently, I don't want to put him in his room BC I'm lazy. Having him in his basket right next to my bed is much more convenient for nursing every 3 hours, as opposed to having to walk across the house to get him to nurse.

We're currently on a three hour easy.

Sounds like he just needs to get comfy in his bed. He might not associate it with sleep at the moment, whereas he does with the Moses basket. You could try spending more time in his room, in the crib. Let him play there for a while. I think it will take a little time but he should get used to it soon. What we used to do with DD is all naps in her crib, start off the night in her crib and bring her into our room to the Pack n play after her 3.30 am feed.

Thanks for the great tips. We'll have to start spending more time in his room in general. And I had never thought about beginning the night in the crib then doing Moses basket after first nf. Definitely something we'll do.

Sounds good. And hey, after a while, she started waking later and later for that feed until she just slept through and stayed in her room all night:) FX for you

I did his afternoon nap in his Moses basket set in his crib. He went down with a bit of help, but did go down and slept for about an hour. So we'll probably keep that up until he goes down easier and sleeps his full nap, then start working on just the crib with no Moses basket

Also did bedtime the same way until his dreamfeed. This time we put him down drowsy after our wind down routine, and he didn't go to sleep for about fifteen minutes but he didn't make any noises or fuss just like if he'd been in our room in his Moses Basket.
