19 month old refusing naps for one month, now NW and EW
« on: March 03, 2015, 18:48:44 pm »
Our 19 month old was on a great schedule of sleeping 7-7, and napping at 12:30 for 2-3 hours until his little brother was born. After this change, he initially started with bedtime refusal (I think it was seperation anxiety with mom suddenly not as available), and then nap refusal.

In the past 30 days he has taken maybe 5 naps. Those days he sleeps for 1.5 hours and wakes up really cranky.

Otherwise I put him in his crib at nap time and he happily plays in his crib for 1.5 hours, until I finally go to get him. He is usually happy for about an hour and then becomes really cranky, finally resulting in a 6pm bedtime.

He was sleeping 6pm-7am on nap refusal days, but has now started waking in the night, and getting up for the at 6am.

I think we are now in an overtired cycle that we can not seem to break. Any advice??? My happy little guy has turned into a cranky, temper tantrum toddler :(

Are you still doing naptime at 12:30? Perhaps he needs more A time before the nap. My 18 month old has her nap at 1:00 and has for ages. I would suggest trying to apop the nap but with a baby in the mix I imagine that is out of the question!
