Nw, ew, late catnap rejection
« on: March 03, 2015, 20:49:14 pm »
Hi :)

Dd will be 6 months in a week. We are really getting our fair share of sleep troubles- she's been sick with a heavy cold which is contributing to nw, because she's congested, but she's also just waking to play. I still do one b/f round 3-4am.\

Ew have been increasing, usually from 6am onwards, again she's squeaky and happy and not at all interested in sleeping.\

She's been hating the late catnap for weeks, and I can't even b/f her to sleep for it anymore.\

Routine looks like\
E bf 7am, though depending on NF time she's often disinterested\
Solids offered 8am\
Nap 9:15-10\
B/f 10:30\
Solids offered 11:30\
Nap 12:30-2ish, sometimes this is 45 min now\
B/f 2:15 \
School run so in car effectively from 2:30-4pm\
Attempt and fail catnap\
E b/f 4:30iah to try for nap\
Solids offered 5:30ish\
Bath\
B/f 6:30\
Bed 7\
DF 10:30\
NF\

That's what we aim for but not what happens!\

I can't work out how to do this with school run which I have to do at least 3 days per week. And due to night time commitments I can't have her in bed later than 7:30 or bring the d/f forward as I'm often not home until 10:15.

Is there any way of avoiding just 2 naps? What would you do? I'm not sure how to fit in b/f in afternoon with so much car travel. Also struggle to extend morning a time.\

Thanks for reading my essay!}

Yesterday I put her down for morning nap later than usual and she slept 1h40 mins. So I opted for nap 2 in the car on the way to school, thinking she could sleep there and back....and I got a 20 min nap.

So far today she went down for nap 1 after 1h45min a time by the time she was asleep, and napped 40 mins. I'm just putting her in for nap 2 and she's very resistant at 3hrs a time (she's in bed, I'm trying to pat her to calm her a bit). So it's 1:20pm now for nap 2...if this is a too short nap I won't have time for nap 3 before bed :/

Hi. Unfortunately this is the prime age for them to drop the CN. I think a jump in A time is definitely on the  cards if she's waking happy in the morning. Especially as you managed to get a good nap in after the increased A time. What time was that at? 1hr 45mims is definitely too short an A time for her now at this age so I'm not surprised that was an UT nap.

What time do you have to leave the house for the school runs? Perhaps we can work something out. Does she fall asleep in the car for the morning one? How long is the drive?

Sorry nap 1 was after 2h45min, typo!

At the moment dh is doing school drop, but he's keen for me to take back over. Yes she falls asleep in the car in th morning, and then has short nap as it's short a time.

Today was a good day. 2h55m morning a time, then napped for 1.5h, then second nap after 3h a time in car to and from school, for 1h10min! Usually school pickup means a short nap, usual in car is 20 mins, so I'm happy!!

If she can do this every day I'll be happy as a pig in mud.

The drive to school is 20 mins, then there's a time of being parked (have to get there early to get a spot, then 20 mind home. Monday, tues and wed I have to get out to sign out my preschooler. Thurs and fri he's not at school and I can pick up my older son in the car bay (today).

So I leave home 2:30, return about 3:45. Today age slept 2:26-3:40 in the car :D

Ha ha silly typos! I always gets mims instead of mins for some reason!

That's great news, did the night go well? Is there any way you can keep to that same routine? It's amazing she can sleep so long in the car, here DD has only ever slept for 40mins in the car, ever  ::)

That's the first time she's slept over 20 mins in the car...lots of prayer lol!!!

Did that routine again today, she woke at 6am and I couldn't get her down til 9:40 (we were out, not her fighting it) and then she slept in the pram until 11ish, then napped 2-3:45 at home! Weekend makes it so much easier to do this!

Thanks for your help and support. Now fingers crossed we can have long car sleeps every weekday :)

Good routine to aim for...if the car nap ends up being short, I'd just do EBT and try again the next day x
