When to start EASY if DD fell back to sleep in the A.M.
« on: September 19, 2015, 14:20:53 pm »
Hi there...

I have to exclusively pump breastmilk siince the very beginning. Long story that I dont want to go into.

My question is some days my DD stirs at about 550am which is too early (in my opinion) to get her up and i also need to pump as i need to fit several pump sessions in  a day. She moves and  make small sounds but goes back to being quiet so i am not sure if she dozed back to sleep. She does this for 60 min. But i need to start pumping. When i finish pumping she falls back to sleep.

It is almost 7:15am and she slept for 30mins while i was pumping. I need to get her up now but do i start counting EASY at 715am? It is like she had a 30 min nap and now i need to keep her up for 3 hr 45 min A time. DD is almost 9 months old.

Anyone has a similar experience? Will DD get OT from 30 min nap after 10 hr of night sleep...wakes for 1 hr and dozes off for another 30 min and then do a long A time? Thanks!

She should be just fine because as far as she's aware, it's still night time.  DS2 will often wake around 6:15am and have a bit of a chat but will then fall back asleep.  I leave him until 7am/7:30am, depending on when he went to sleep and then get him up and going.

It sounds like she's not properly awake in that hour?  Just in light sleep?  That's pretty normal, it's the lightest part of the sleep cycle then LOs often go back off for a final deep 30 mins or so prior to 'real' WU time.  I'd just start your EASY from 7.15, if she seems tired earlier than her usual A time then shorten by 15 mins or so :)

Thx ladies! I appreciate your input  :)

Jessmum46 - i am working on her EW so 3 hr 45 is her first A time that i pushed out from 3 hr 30. If i am working on her EW, is it a bad idea to cut her A time to let her nap earlier, even though she yawned several times and rubbed her eyes (this happen in the car seat on our way home from grocery shopping)? Not sure if i should reduce her A time if i am working on pushing it out even though DD seems tired.

As a one-off I don't think it's a problem, OT can accumulate when pushing A times and sometimes they just need a catch-up before pushing on again x
