7 month old EMW
« on: May 22, 2017, 06:45:29 am »
It's been 4.30am for the last 3 days, before that it was 5am for a few days. I can do 6am, but just not 4.30!! Then because he's up early he has his first nap early which means we're back to 3 naps when we had previously been on 2. He's on 3 hour awake time. 3 meals. We've gone back to giving night feeds because he stopped taking much milk in the day, we started offering water on a night, but have given milk the last 2 nights. So hunger isn't why he's waking early I don't think. He's just popped his first tooth 2 days ago. Any advice? XX

This does happen for various reasons but meanwhile, instead of giving her a proper early nap, make this one a 20 min catnap. Then move up the second (first proper one) up to the time you would normally have this nap.

When does she turn 8 mo? She may need a little tweek in her routine.  Can you post her current routine including lengths of each nap.

I would try a dream med around 11:00 (with a 6 hr medication like motrin) if you see evidence of other teeth.

I'm really struggling now: this is still going on, 5am every day. He's waking my toddler too who is also really struggling with this. Current routine:
5am WU - we try offering dummy for as long as we can until his screams are too loud (not crying screams, playing screams, like how high a pitch can I reach)
7am - bottle (usually takes around 4oz because of night feed)
7.30/8- breakfast
8/9 - nap (3hr A, usually sleeps for 1.5hrs)
10.30 - bottle (5/6oz)
11.30 lunch
12.30/1 -nap (1.5-2hrs)
3 -bottle 4-6oz
4.30/5 - dinner
6.15 bath (usually very OT as I've stopped any late aft naps)
6.40 bottle (5-7oz)
7 - asleep
11-1 - night waking, usually offer a bottle or water if he won't resettle
3ish usually wakes too
5am EMW

Please can anyone help?? I am literally falling apart at the seams with tiredness. It's really affecting our lives.
Thank you!!

Hi BobbysMum, you must be exhausted! 5am wake ups are awful.

You could try the catnap in the morning, or keep at least an 8:30/9:00 first nap time and move this out by 15 min every day or two.  The first nap being at 8 can prevent his wake up from moving later.

If he's closer to 8 months, extend his awake times to 3.15.

So aim for something like:
WU?
NAP 1 8:30/9:00-10/10:30
NAP 2 1:15/1:45- ~3:00
BT 7:00

Anyway you can go to sleep as soon as kids do for a little while to catch up on sleep?
