Napping off / no swaddle
« on: July 01, 2019, 20:45:30 pm »
Hello,

My baby is 16 weeks old and due to the heatwave I have stopped swaddling her (I understand this can cause overheating, right?), and even though she is still sleeping through the night she is really struggling with the after lunch nap, which used to last anywhere from 2 to 3 hours.
Could it be because of the lack of swaddling, or this cant be the reason as she still sleeps the night?
Or could it be the heat?
O maybe the 4 month sleep regression? (but then can this affect just naps and not the night sleep?)
Any tips to fix this? thank you.

It could be every reason you gave.
I live where it's often 30-40C and we didn't have aircon when my eldest was under 6mo. I used to swaddle him in a singlet and a thin muslin wrap with a fan on and damp towels hung in the room as he wouldn't sleep when not wrapped.
Babies actually adjust pretty well to the heat and as they aren't moving it's pretty hard to get heat related problems unless they aren't being fed enough... They also like to/need to feed more in hot weather.
