i froze some squash (store bought ready jarred), and when i thawed it, it separated and i couldn't mix or mash it back to its original mushy state. my lo ate it just as readily, but i am concerned about its new fibrousy yet watery appearance.
is it still ok?

As far as I know it is okay to freeze baby food in jars and it's also okay that the consistency changes. Some don't like the idea of freezing the actual jar as there's a danger of glass breaking... but the food itself is fine to freeze.

hi sharon, and thanks. i wasn't very clear... i didn't freeze the jars, i just mean't it was store bought food, not homemade, incase that made a difference. just put tspfuls in an icetray to bag later.
anyway - glad to hear it's all good.

Hey no problem!
Though i's probably a good idea to check the jars too 'cause there's always different "ways to do things" and I would think it's a food that can't be frozen it has to say...but I do know some info out there says it's fine.
