My 2 1/2 month old has been waking when he kicks out of swaddle. When I reswaddle he almost immediatly falls back to sleep. What can I do to help him so he doesn't wake up?

When Leah was little she could get out of any kind of swaddle. I bought a miracle blanket and that kept her swaddled nice and tight all night long. It was our life saver!!!! You can find them online. I know a lot of other moms on this site love the miracle blanket too.

We double swaddle our DD. I cut a sheet into a 42" X 42" size and use that as the first swaddle. Since your DS is still quite young you can just tuck the bottom part of the triangle up and under his legs/bum. Then if you use a regular receiving blanket as the second swaddle it sort of clings to the sheet and keeps them in tight.
Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Our DD is now just over 6 months and we still use the double swaddle. She gets out at night sometimes a couple of times but it's her arms that are out now!! Time to wean it I know...

Don't worry Michelle, I didn't wean Leah from the swaddle until she was 7 months old!

Thanks Christine!
How did you wean the swaddle anyways??
I have tried one arm out and it works once in awhile for naps.
At night when she gets out of it she plays with anything she can find (usually the bumper pads in the crib) and rolls over to her front. Then she can't get back to her back and ends up screaming her head off!!

We are planning to quit it cold turkey come the Remembrance Day (Veterans' Day) long weekend as DH will be home for the sleepless nights.

We went cold turkey. I went back to work at the beginning of September so I didn't want the sitter to swaddle Leah for naps, didn't want her to think I was crazy!  I knew we were in for bad naps anyway becuase of my returning to work, so I figured it was now or never! Needless to say, we had a few weeks of bad naps but things straightened out. We still don't have great nights - one-two early morning wakings. But she has never been a good night sleeper.
