Stretching Night Feedings for 9 Week LO
« on: November 27, 2005, 02:33:59 am »
My LO has been taking 30 ounces of formula per day (5 oz, 6 times/day).  The 6th feeding is a DF around 10:40.  He has only gone 5 hours a few times and when he wakes up it's a struggle to get him to take another 5 ounces.  We do try to shh/pat and/or give pacifier to make sure he's hungry, but we're pretty sure he's somewhat hungry b/c although he doesn't take 5 ounces, he does take 4 and his waking is erratic.  Also, shh/pat and pacifier do not soothe him.  LO has reflux and although he is on Zantac he struggles to take full feedings during the day (although I make sure to spend the time so he does get a full bottle).  My question is how do I increase his calories during the day when he struggles to take 5 the way it is?  I'm pretty sure it's a reflux issues, but could it also be just a small tummy?  I think if I could get just a few more ounces in him during the day he may start stretching longer and more consistantly.
Are there any other medications out there or any ideas to help my LO eat more during a feeding???  Thanks!

9 weeks is pretty small - most do still need a feed at night.

how are things now?
