New to the Forum - Wake to sleep Question .....
« on: December 31, 2005, 13:36:05 pm »
Hi, I'm new here, I'm Laura and have a very lively 1year old boy called Finlay ......

Fin has started to wake every morning @ 6am, so I'm trying to get the wake to sleep method to work, but am confused ....

When I go in to wake him @ 5am am I supposed to wake him up fully? or just stir him? ...in either case I'm actually struggling to rouse him at all - at the moment he just seems to barely grunt then goes straight back to sleep .....

Has anyone had any success with the wake to sleep method?

Where am I going wrong??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Best

the way wake to sleep works is that you go in about an hour or so earlier and just stir them.  you don't need/want them to fully wake, but just disturb their sleep cycle a bit.

however... how much daytime sleep is he getting now?  what does a typical day look like?  he could also just be waking early cause he's not tired anymore...

Hi

Thanks for responding ..... we actually had success last night - went in to stir him @ 5am, he then woke up at 6.50am - a result!! ..... not getting too carried away though, will have to see what happens tonight !!

Fin usually has 1 long nap a day, usually 11.30am - 1.00pm, and he is very mischievous & active throughout the day

typical day - milk @ 7/breakfast @ 8 - 8.30/get washed & dressed/playgroup or an activity/snack @ 10.30/nap @ 11.30/lunch @ 1.00pm/home play or activity/snack @ 3.00pm ish/dinner @ 5.00pm/bath @ 6.00pm/milk & toast @ 6.30pm/BED @ 7.00PM (the best bit!)

I'm hoping this wake to sleep method will work, as he was sleeping through til just after 7am, it seems everytime he has a cold or is teething we seem to get off track, but I'm sure that most babes are the same
